Welcome to 'Left for Zion'

February 27, 2026

Welcome to Left for Zion, a site devoted to renewing progressive Zionism in the tradition of Moses Hess, Nahum Syrkin, Ber Borochov, David Ben-Gurion, and Golda Meier.

Here we will retrieve both forgotten history and forgotten perspectives which, when recovered, demonstrate that no true ‘progressive’ can coherently be antisemitic or Zionophobic.

We will also, of course, discuss current affairs in light of the tradition that we here recover.

A brief word on the site’s name. We shall be ‘left for Zion’ in three senses...

First, we are politically situated ‘on the left,’ and for that very reason are proudly and unapologetically Zionist.

Second, we have been abandoned - ‘left’ - since 10/7 of 2023 by many ersatz-progressives whom we’d thought our comrades.

And third, we are now spending much (though not all) of our time - have ‘left for’ - Israel, and will report thereon where it’s fitting.

Shalom and Am Yisrael Chai!

- Robert
